Make Money On YouTube – Can You Do It?
Can you make money on YouTube? Of course you can. YouTube used to be a neat little website where people could share their videos with the world and we could all have a laugh at the poor guy trying to wash his car before the rainstorm hits or chuckle at the kitty cat that cannot seem to negotiate the jump from the floor to the table. But YouTube caught on and soared to become an internet phenomenon accounting for millions of web hits every single day. Not too long ago Google purchased YouTube and when a company like Google that is the ultimate expert in generating internet advertising revenue gets a hold of a site with millions of captive video viewers it did not take long for Google to develop ways to make money on YouTube.
If you were clever and had some marketing smarts you could have figured out ways to generate YouTube revenue prior to Google taking over. As long as you are not violating someone else’s copyright then YouTube would allow anyone to post a video of just about anything as long as it met their decency standards. That meant that you could make money on YouTube by creating appealing videos and including your website contact information in the video and in the video description that goes along with every YouTube video. People started to put their own homemade commercials on YouTube and it started to work. Then Google came in and added a completely new element to YouTube.
Google has had an online marketing program in place for webmasters called Adsense for quite a while now. With the merging of Google and YouTube there was a video element added to the Adsense program and suddenly people that were involved in Adsense could create their own YouTube portal and make money on YouTube for the exposure they created. Many of the popular YouTube videos get millions of views over a relatively short period of time and it did not take Google long to allow its users the chance to capitalize on that exposure with more than just an Adsense portal.
Google now allows its more prolific video contributors that chance to include Google advertising directly on their videos and in various spots on the browser around the videos as well. If you have a video that is generating hundreds of thousands of views then you suddenly have a very powerful program that you can get paid for based on advertising revenue you have generated. Many YouTube contributors are making YouTube their full time job as they set out to create content that will get them the viewers they need to generate that Google advertising revenue and allow them to make money on YouTube.
The money being generated is not something that would ever make ABC or CBS jealous but if enough time is put into it, and a contributor generates enough interest, it can certainly be enough revenue to become a full time job. Between eBay and YouTube thousands of people are finding new ways to make a living thanks to the internet.
